Lockdown Portraits
2020 - 2021
About Me
I have been drawing and creating since I was 8. I was an asthmatic child who was seriously bored spending a lot of time in bed, so my art became my imaginery world.
I developed my art into a creative passion after I went to art school and spent a year doing foundation art and design, which really confused me as it gave me so many options.
I took a path which led me to do stained glass designs at Chelsea for 3 years, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, after finishing my course, I went to work in a graphic environment for 8 years and then went to university to study Graphic Information Design.
I have spent the last 20 years since studying Graphics at University of Westminster, doing web design, graphics, animations and creating e-Learning Courses.
However, I have always been painting portraits in the background as they are my passion.
This website has been created to showcase my Lockdown Portraits.
In 2020, the world came to a standstill due to the Covid Pandemic. I was marooned at home and after various activities, I decided that I wanted to join a few Portrait Zoom classes. So I joined the Dulwich Art Group and started a journey to re-ignite my passion for portrait painting.
I wasn't sure if I could still capture a likeness after such a long gap of not painting (9 years)!
But over several months of doing the Zoom sessions, my passion to capture a likeness, intensified and I have a list of new topics to capture on canvas.
Additionally, I started to experiment in creating abstract art with mixed media.
This website is testament that it doesn't matter if you loose your inner creative spirit, something will occur to restart the spark of creativity and allow one to move forwards again. Out of a dark world situation, came a beautiful moment for me to re-engage with paints and people again.
